Our Sunday celebration included an address by Donat Taddeo on behalf of the parishioners, a gift from the parishioners presented by parish warden Louise Mac Lellan, and warm conversation over coffee and treats – including a beautiful and tasty 40th anniversary cake.
See more photos and Don Taddeo’s address below.
My name is Don Taddeo, and I have been asked by the wardens to say a few words on behalf of us all as we celebrate the 40th anniversary of Fr. MacEachen’s Ordination.
Keep it to 5, max 7 minutes, they said – when I talk to Fr. MacEachen, 5 to 7 minutes hardly gets me past “hello”, but I will try!
All kidding aside, these are the words that come to mind when I think of our beloved pastor:
• DEVOTION – His devotion to his parishioners, present and past;
• AVAILABILITY – His unstinting availability to help those in need – whether it is in our sister parishes in Verdun and the Point, shelters for the homeless and abused, or using his one day off to attend to elderly priests who depend on him to get out once a week;
• ACCOMMODATION – His incredible capacity to accommodate everyone – marriage counselling before Mass on Saturday or evenings, baptisms after Mass on Sundays, Mass in Senior residences, visiting those who are alone or hospitalized.
