Ave Maria – A Mother’s Day Concert

Presented by the Ascension of Our Lord Choir under the direction of Joel Peters.

Sunday, May 12 at 2pm

Music by J. Rutter, J. S. Bach, F. Schubert, A. Grøndahl, G. Pergolesi, Mother Teresa, Hildegard von Bingen, and others.

This concert is inspired and given shape by the well-known prayer Ave Maria, outlining a musical portrait, as it were, of Mary. Filling in the details, colors, and background of the portrait are lullabies, laments, blessings, praise and contemplation, through which a portrait emerges that allows us to see not just Mother Mary, but mothers in general.
