ADVENT MASS OF CONCERN

NOVEMBER 21, 2021

Advent Mass of Concern

On the weekend of November 27-28, we will have our Advent Mass of Concern.

At this time of year we collect funds to support our less fortunate neighbours, who depend on our help for money to purchase food and other necessities at Christmas as well as throughout the year.

For those of you who use the Envelope system there is an envelope in your box.
For others, an envelope can be found for this purpose at all the entrances of the Church.

We are grateful to you for your generous support.

Gifts for Children at Christmas

The children who attend our Be My Disciples catechism classes are once again invited to bring a gift to support the ‘Share the Warmth’ toy drive.
We have been doing this for several years, and it brings a smile to less fortunate children at Christmas.

We are looking for toys and gifts for boys and girls of all ages, including children between the ages of 10 and 14.
Please drop off the gift when you come to church, or it can be left at the Rectory.

It would be appreciated if they were brought before December 17th.

Thank you on behalf of ‘Share the Warmth’.

Warden’s Election – Sunday December 12th

On Sunday, December 12th there will be a meeting of Parishioners to elect 2 new wardens, to replace the two who are completing their mandate.
It will be held in the Church, following the 10:30 a.m. mass.

Wardens serve a term of 3 years, renewable once. They assist the pastor in the financial and temporal affairs of the parish. Anyone 18 years of age, a practicing catholic, who lives within the boundaries of the parish can serve as a warden.

Please speak with the priest if you would like to serve as a warden.

All Souls’ Day: All Souls’ Day, or Commemoration of All The Faithful Departed, and the Day of the Dead

is a day of prayer and remembrance of the souls of those who have died.

It is a holy day set aside for honoring the dead, in the Universal Catholic Church.

Praying for the dead is a Christian obligation. The Church devotes the month of November to prayer for all the souls departed, that all will be made pure before entering into the presence of God in Heaven.

We are all part of the Communion of the Saints — alive and dead — and we are all destined for life in Heaven, where we will be welcomed by Jesus and by our friends, for whom we have been praying all along.

May they rest in peace eternally.

Food Bank Donation

We have a new tradition in our parish to support the hungry on a more continuous basis. Over 860,000 Canadians visit food banks every month, with over 36% of the donations feeding hungry children.

During the COVID‑19 isolation, please leave your items in a bag at the door of the rectory. Donations will be delivered to St. Willibrord’s parish food bank.
